The topic of rising airfare trends was one of the focal points of discussions among airport leaders during the Board Meeting of the Airports Council International Asia-Pacific & Middle East (ACI APAC & MID), hosted by Cambodia Airports, in Phnom Penh.
On 17 June 2023, Phu Bai International Airport’s New Terminal 2 was inaugurated by the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV). Hue city is the center of commerce, services and international transactions of the economy of North Central Coast Vietnam as well as one of Central Coast Vietnam's transportation hubs. It serves as a gateway for the East-West Economic Corridor connecting Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, and the East Sea.
Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) today received an environmental, social and governance (ESG) rating of 75 out of 100 in Standard & Poor Global Ratings (S&P), up from the strong inaugural rating of 74 it received last year. The rating demonstrates AAHK’s adequate preparedness for adapting to potential disruptors as it works to maintain the position of Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) as a hub for global and regional aviation.
Sustainability and its implications on human resources were the central topic of discussion at the recent ACI Asia-Pacific Regional Human Resources Committee meeting in Kobe, Japan. During the two-day meeting, the committee discussed how sustainability can be integrated into human resources policies and practices, as well as various workforce-related challenges commonly faced by airports after the pandemic.
Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited (Hactl) welcomes the Government’s introduction of a sector-specific labour importation scheme for transport sector which covers the aviation industry. The scheme with its carefully-deliberated coverage will substantially support the aviation industry in addressing the acute manpower shortage. The scheme will help reinforce the competitive advantages of Hong Kong’s aviation industry and position industry favourably to capture the growth opportunities which will arise from the three-runway system operating fully.

Amadeus has acquired a minority stake in CAPHENIA, a future producer of synthesis gas, the feedstock of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). The German-based company has developed an innovative approach to produce SAF in a more affordable and scalable way. The decision is part of a wider commitment on behalf of Amadeus to support the industry on its journey toward sustainable travel.
The 17th Meeting of ACI Asia-Pacific Regional Environment Committee was successfully convened in Kobe, Japan on 14-15 May 2023. The meeting was attended by over 35 environmental sustainability experts from airports and World business Partners in Asia-Pacific and Middle East region.
Airport security experts extensively deliberated on human resource challenges and cybersecurity threats at the 30th ACI Asia-Pacific Regional Aviation Security Committee (RASC) meeting held recently in Osaka, Japan. The meeting was attended by 35 security experts from airports in the region.
At its 18th Regional Assembly in Kobe, Japan, Airports Council International (ACI) Asia-Pacific, a trade association representing 622 airports from 47 countries/territories, has made a resolution to promote, restore and develop air connectivity in Asia-Pacific and the Middle East to ensure social and economic development as well as support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
