The topic of rising airfare trends was one of the focal points of discussions among airport leaders during the Board Meeting of the Airports Council International Asia-Pacific & Middle East (ACI APAC & MID), hosted by Cambodia Airports, in Phnom Penh.
Mangaluru International Airport in its continued quest for safe operations, conducted Mangalam – Tabletop Exercise 2024 on May 28. This exercise was a precursor to the full-scale aerodrome emergency exercise (FSAEE) that will be held in November 2024. The airport periodically conducts the tabletop and FSAEE as mandated by the civil aviation sector regulator – DGCA and as per the guidance from the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA).
As the May 1 Labour Day holiday is approaching, the Central Meteorological Observatory forecasts on 29th April 2024 that the weather in some regions will be unstable in the later holiday period, with widespread heavy rainfall and severe weather in the central and eastern regions, and occurrences of heavy rain in Jiangnan and South China regions.
Mangaluru International Airport observed Fire Service Week at the airport premises on April 16, 2024, with a simulated demonstration on firefighting. The theme of Fire Service Week this year is ‘Ensure Fire Safety: Contribute Towards Nation Building’. In India, the fire and emergency service personnel observe the week every year from April 14-20 to pay tribute to firemen who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty at Mumbai Dockyard on April 14, 1944.
As part of its ongoing commitment to operational health and safety standards across its operations, the Qatar Company for Airports Operation and Management (MATAR) successfully conducted its annual MATAR Safety Campaign at Hamad International Airport (DOH).
Mangaluru International Airport reiterated its commitment to safety with meaningful observation of 53rd National Safety week on March 4. Observed annually from March 4 to 10, the theme of the Safety Week this year is ‘Focus on Safety Leadership For ESG Excellence’. Unfurling of the National Safety flag, administering safety oath and rewarding staff and stakeholders for their commitment to safety, marked the inaugural function of the week.
Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru (BLR Airport) successfully conducted its 10th biennial full-scale aircraft emergency exercise, Challenger ’24, on Thursday, February 29, 2024. The exercise, aimed at testing and validating the airport's emergency plans and preparedness, was executed with precision and involved a multitude of stakeholders.
The Qatar Company for Airports Operation and Management (MATAR) received the ISO 45001:2018 Occupational Health & Safety Management System Certification for Hamad International Airport. The certification was awarded by the BSI (British Standards Institution).
MATAR, the Qatar Company for Airports Operation and Management successfully concluded its sixth full-scale emergency exercise for Hamad International Airport (DOH) titled ‘Emergency Exercise Oryx Kilo 2023’ on the 8th of January 2024. The full-scale exercise evaluated the effectiveness of external agencies’ response in accessing the new western development area and the communication processes, procedures and methods in working with valued partners, stakeholders and government agencies. It consisted of over 500 personnel, including volunteers from various agencies and departments.
Mangaluru International Airport conducted the annual bomb threat mock exercise on its premises on December 29, 2023. The exercise was conducted in the staff parking lot of the airport to test the airport's security response system and coordination with diverse stakeholders and agencies in time of crises.
