Customer service and the key role people, new facilities and IT innovation play in boosting traveller satisfaction levels at airports come under the microscope. This edition also features the customer service strategies of Incheon and Malaysia Airports.

An independent study was commissioned by ACI Asia-Pacific and was undertaken by Oxera and Edge Health to analyse the effectiveness of travel restrictions. The study, based on modelling different scenarios of COVID-19 variants of concern with similar or higher level of infectiousness than the current Omicron, revealed that travel restrictions such as quarantine and testing would be ineffective in mitigating the spread of COVID-19.

The industry showed encouraging signs of recovery in the first quarter of 2022— capacity was rebuilding in many parts of Asia Pacific and Middle East region; domestic passenger traffic made considerable progress; cargo growth has proven to be resilient and is above pre-pandemic levels. Despite the subdued pandemic environment, airports in the region continued to provide a safe and high service quality for the benefit of their passengers.
