395,000 Passengers! A New Traffic Record of Shanghai Airports

China’s “Chunyun”, travel rush during the Chinese Spring Festival, is one of the world’s largest people migration in a short period of time. The traffic of Shanghai airports during the Chinese Spring Festival has hit a record high, 395,000 passengers in a single day.
Huge departure passengers flow emerged at the two airports in Shanghai on Feb. 6, 2024, the first peak day during the Chinese Spring Festival travel rush, and lasted till Feb. 17, 2024, the final day of the Chinese Spring Festival holiday. During this period, There are total 4.37 million passengers accommodated at both Shanghai Pudong International Airport and Hongqiao International Airport, of which 2.72 million persons at PVG and 1.65 million at SHA, a year-on-year increase of 80.3%. The flight movements of the above two airports in Shanghai reached 27,000 with 18,000 at PVG and 9000 at SHA, up 38.4% year on year.
The statistics show that the peak day of inbound and outbound passenger traffic appeared on February 15, the 6th day of the Chinese New Year holiday, reaching 395,000 passengers, of which there were 243,000 passengers accommodated at PVG and 152,000 passengers at SHA.
Both the flight movements and passenger traffic of the two airports hit the highest record for the Chinese Spring Festival travel rush in the past years while the passenger volume of Hongqiao International Airport recorded a new high of a single day since its opening.
