ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East Shared Airports’ Priorities in Security With Airline Pilots

  • 2024-11-20

ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East (ACI APAC & MID) was honoured to participate at the 2024 security committee of The International Federation of Air Line Pilots' Associations (IFALPA) from the 14-16 November in Fukuoka, Japan. Marking a significant milestone, this was the first time ACI APAC & MID had been invited to attend IFALPA’s annual security committee, which is held annually for commercial airline pilots to discuss aviation security-related matters.

ACI APAC & MID delivered a presentation highlighting some of the top security challenges faced by airports in the region, including manpower shortages in frontline security screeners, the rapid evolution of emerging security threats against airports and civil aviation, the deployment of smart security technologies, and a lack of resources at smaller and regional airports.

In addition, ACI APAC & MID provided an update on the recent development of One-stop Security (OSS) in the region, which is a topic that is of common interest to both the airlines and airports. The presentation sparked a productive discussion on ways ACI APAC & MID and IFALPA can collaborate to further advocate for the implementation and promotion of OSS at both global and regional levels.

The committee expressed great appreciation for ACI APAC & MID's participation and commended the valuable insights shared from an airport perspective.
