Almaty International Airport First in Commonwealth of Independent States to Achieve Airport Health Accreditation

  • 29 Oct 2020

Airports Council International (ACI) has recently granted the Airport Health Accreditation (AHA) to Almaty International Airport. ALA is the first airport in CIS to obtain AHA accreditation.

AHA programme is designed to help reassure the travelling public that airport facilities remain safe and that precautions are being taken to reduce any risk to their health.

ALA achieved the certification by completing an assessment by ACI in alignment with the guidelines for health measures established by ICAO, CART, EASA, ACI recovery guidance, ACI EUROPE’s Guidelines for a Healthy Passenger Experience at Airports and industry best practices.

“I wish to extend my congratulations to you and your team at Almaty International Airport in becoming accredited in the Airports Council International (ACI) Airport Health Accreditation programme,” ACI World Director General Luis Felipe de Oliveira said. “After reviewing the evidence presented through our evaluation process, your airport has shown that it is providing a safe airport experience for all travelers which is in line with the recommended health measures established in the ACI Aviation Business Restart and Recovery guidelines and ICAO Council Aviation Recovery Task Force Recommendations, along with industry best practices.”

Various initiatives and measures have already been in place at ALA to prevent the spread of COVID-19 infection and ALA will conduct continuous quality control, which will lead to a cycle of continuous improvements as situations change and requirements evolve. ALA will continue it’s efforts to offer it’s passengers safe airport operations and better passenger experiences amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
