- 2024-07-04
Alstef Group's recent contract win for the new Baggage Handling System (BHS) at Montreal Metropolitan Airport (MET) aligns with the airport's transition into a commercial aviation hub, marked by its new brand identity.
The construction of the terminal at MET is advancing swiftly, slated to open by the end of 2025 with an overall $200 million investment by terminal operator YHU Infrastructure Partners. The BHS project, awarded to Alstef Group by construction firm PCL, encompasses 28 check-in conveyors, a collector conveyor, and an out-of-gauge line. The addition of CTX 9800 Explosives Detection Systems, high-capacity makeup carousels, and airline sortation aims to streamline operations and enhance the passenger experience. The inbound system comprises two flat-plate carousels.
The recent rebranding of Montreal Saint-Hubert Airport to MET - Montreal Metropolitan Airport signifies a purposeful shift. The green line in the logo, representing the Saint Lawrence River, emphasizes connectivity and the adoption of green technologies. MET as an abbreviation reinforces brand recognition, emphasizing the airport's evolution.
"Alstef Group's extensive track record in CATSA screening upgrade projects across Canada gave the airport full confidence in our proposal," affirmed Regional Sales Manager Gary Kane. "We anticipate forging a long-lasting partnership with YHU Infrastructure Partners drawing from our extensive 20+ year history of successful collaborations in the region."
MET’s focus is on redefining traditional air transport models, prioritizing sustainability, innovation, and societal impact.
