Border Express Opens Their New Home at Perth Airport

Border Express has opened their new purpose-built distribution facility at Perth Airport showcasing a substantial upgrade in space and functionality for the group.  

 

Spanning four hectares with 13,000 square meters under roof, an additional 1,500 square meters of awning, 33 vehicle parcel loading docks and ample B-double parking, the new site is located within the Perth Airport South precinct providing convenient access to major road networks including Tonkin, Leach and Roe Highways.

 

Perth Airport Chief Property Officer Dan Sweet said that for more than 40 years, Border Express has been a trusted industry leader in service and delivery, and it is fantastic to welcome another highly valued and respected tenant to the estate.

 

“In alignment with our commitment to sustainability certifications for new developments, this building is targeting a 4-Star Green Star Buildings rating, representing best practice in better, healthier and more responsible buildings.

 

“The site has been constructed with sustainably sourced materials, it features energy-efficient systems, water-saving fixtures, a 100kWp rooftop solar system, and high-quality lighting to ensure occupant comfort.

 

“The partnership between Border Express, Perth Airport (PAPL) and the builder Capstone has ensured a smooth project execution and timely delivery of the new facility. We look forward to facilitating their efficiency and growth in Western Australia,” said Mr Sweet.

 

Border Express General Manager Rob Walsh said the new site represents Border Express's commitment to enhancing efficiency, capacity, and service excellence.

“The new site marks a major milestone in our commitment to boosting efficiency and supporting growth in the Perth region,” said Mr Walsh.

 

 

Key Benefits of the new site:

  1. Enhanced Loading Capacity: The new site features parcel loading docks for 33 vehicles on the exterior of the shed. This allows for smoother operations and increased loading/unloading capabilities.
  2. Improved Truck Handling: Ability to stage and load/unload up to eight B-doubles at a time, compared to the current capacity of three, resulting in the ability to handle a higher volume of goods efficiently.
  3. Specialised Loading Equipment: The addition of four loading docks and three Longreach telescopics further streamlines the loading process, ensuring quicker turnaround times.
  4. Ample Parking: The new site boasts parking for up to 30 B-Double trailers, addressing previous parking constraints and improving logistics management.
  5. Growth Capability: With more space and optimised operations, the new site sets the stage for Border Express's continued growth and expansion in the Perth region.
