Chairman of the Board of Directors of Macau International Airport Company Limited (CAM) Mr. Ma Iao Hang received the CAAC delegation to gratitude their long-term support to MIA and the civil aviation industry.
Chairman of Executive Committee Mr. Chan Weng Hong, Executive Director Mr. Chu Tan Neng, Mr. Kan Cheok Kuan, Mr. Lei Si Tai and Mr. Leung Henry Yee Hang, the President of Civil Aviation Authority of Macau SAR (AACM) Mr. Stanley Pun, warmly welcomed Deputy Administrator of Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) Mr. Cui Xiaofeng and his delegation on 15th December 2023.
The meeting and exchange deepens the understanding of the role and function of Macau International Airport (MIA) and civil aviation industry as the core engine city in the Bay Area, which can actively promote integration into the overall development of the country.
At the meeting, Chairman Chan welcomed Deputy Administrator of CAAC Mr. Cui and his delegation, and express sincere thanks to CAAC for its great attention and support to civil aviation of Macau and Macau International Airport (MIA). Since the Central Government has officially approved the land reclamation project for the airport expansion in last year (2022), the project has been carried out in an orderly manner, including design, financial arrangement, tendering and environmental monitoring.
As 2024 marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Macao Special Administrative Region (MSAR), MIA will properly provide supporting services in relevant aspects for the major celebrations and further strengthen the coordination of equipment and personnel deployment.
With the rapid recovery of the civil aviation industry, the shortage of airspace resources in the Bay Area will once again appear. He expressed sincere gratitude to the site visit the delegation is paying this time, study and jointly discuss for possible solutions to ensure the steadiness and stability of local civil aviation industry and the differentiated development of the five major airports in the Greater Bay Area on the basis of a win-win situation.
Deputy Administrator of CAAC Mr. Cui stated that CAAC has been working closely with Macau. Next year (2024) will be the 25th anniversary of Macau’s return to the motherland, CAAC and MIA always maintain communication and interaction, and work together to ensure the planning for the major celebrations of 2024. Mr. Cui indicated that MIA has remained resilient during this recovery period, especially in the development of air logistics. He is confident in the overall development of Macau International Airport. With sufficient research, strategic planning and pragmatic response measures and proper utilization of favorable policies, it will facilitate the rapid recovery and development of civil aviation industry of Macau. In the future, CAAC continues to support the modification and expansion of Macau International Airport at the greatest extent by providing assistance in terms of policy, technology, management coordination and slot allocation. Mr. Cui also pointed out that the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is the integral national strategy, it is also hoped that the Mainland of China and Macau can closely adhere to national strategic plan, work hand in hand to promote the high-quality development of civil aviation and jointly build a world-class airport cluster in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
