CAM Extends Sincere Gratitude to the Central Government and the Macau SAR Government for Fully Supporting Macau International Airport Master Plan

Macau International Airport Company Limited (CAM) is pleased to receive the notification from the SAR Government that the State Council officially approved the expansion and land reclamation of Macau International Airport.

CAM expresses sincere gratitude to the Central Government and the Macau SAR Government for their long-term full support to the sustainable development of Macau International Airport.

With the “Macau International Airport Master Plan” officially approved by the SAR Government in 2016 and the promulgation of the Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area in 2019, which clearly support Macau in enhancing the functions of Macau International Airport and its reconstruction and expansion plan.

CAM has been proactively working with Civil Aviation Authority of Macau SAR on reclamation application in phase-based for the expansion plan of Macau International Airport (MIA), coordinated to complete a number of studies on environmental assessment and water conservancy, as well as the preparation of the application for the use of sea area related to the reclamation and expansion plan. The constant and full support from the Central Government and the SAR Government drive to the successful application for reclamation plan of Macau International Airport.

After receiving approval notification, CAM has formed a leading group and a working group for expansion and reclamation plan, requiring engineering company to submit the construction plan within 60 days and negotiating relevant monitoring tasks of the sea area. At the same time, Infrastructure Development Department of CAM and the consulting company starts outlining the timetable for the reclamation project and will submit for approval procedure with the relevant financial provision the Finance and Administration Department of CAM will formulate.

Under the lead of the Macau SAR Government, Macau International Airport will continue to act with an airport function in the Greater Bay Area that entrusted by the Outline Development Plan. Macau International Airport will be continuously having self adjustment to enhance the comprehensive competitiveness.  

In cope with the “Second Five-Year Plan for Economic and Social Development of the Macao Special Administrative Region (2021-2025)” to improve Macau’s aviation infrastructure to create an efficient and convenient travel environment, integrating into the overall development of the country, based in Macau, backed by the motherland, and facing the world.
