- 07 Feb 2019
Kansai Airports Kobe headquartered in Kobe City, Hyogo (Representative Director & CEO Yoshiyuki Yamaya, Representative Director & Co-CEO Emmanuel Menanteau) and ORIX Auto Corporation headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo (President Yuji Kamiyauchi) announced today that they will jointly provide car sharing service at Kobe Airport beginning February 8, 2019—the first of its kind at the airport.
Using on-airport car park spaces rented from Kansai Airports Kobe, ORIX Auto Corporation will operate the business. Cars are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week—users can pick up and drop off a car anytime they want. This new service will offer yet another convenient mode of transport for both individuals and corporations traveling through Kobe Airport on business and leisure trips.
Since ORIX Auto Corporation launched Japan's first car sharing in 2002, it has been rolling out the business across Japan mainly in the Tokyo Metropolitan and Kinki regions—running 1,695 stations nationwide as of September 2018. In the Kinki region, the company has expanded the service in the vicinity of Shinkansen stations like Kyoto and Shin Osaka. New car sharing spots were also set up at Osaka City Air Terminal or OCAT, one of the largest bus terminals in western Japan with direct connection to JR Namba Station, in January 2018 as well as at Osaka International Airport in April 2018. In close cooperation with transport operators, the firm aims to improve convenience for its registered members.
Kansai Airports Kobe and ORIX Auto Corporation will continue to implement initiatives to offer enhanced convenience and service for customers.
