Chairman of the Executive Committee of CAM Paid Business Visit to Beijing

Dr. Deng Jun, Chairman of the Executive Committee of Macau International Airport Company Limited (CAM) and the delegation have paid business visit to Beijing from 10th February. During this period, the delegation has conducted business exchanges and industry development discussions with Ms. Wang Ruiping, Chairman of China Civil Airport Association (CCAA), and Mr. Wang Changyi, Chairman of the Capital Airports Holding Limited (CAH).

At the meeting, Ms.Wang Ruiping, Chairman of China Civil Airports Association (CCAA) expressed his gratitude to Dr. Deng Jun, the advisor of CCAA, for his continuous support and concern to the association. Chairman Wang said the domestic civil aviation industry has been seriously affected and have suffered a lot since the epidemic. This year, the civil aviation industry has finally welcomed three advantages, which include: the impact of the epidemic has gradually dissipated and the recovery of civil aviation is accelerating; the Chinese Yuan (RMB) has been appreciated significantly; and oil price has dropped, which predicted that the suffering of civil aviation in China will soon to be over. After being awarded the title of "National Advanced Social Organization" in 2021, CCAA was awarded "China National 5A Level Social Organization" by Ministry of Civil Affairs (MCA) in 2022 again. This reflects the caring and guidance from Ministry of Civil Affairs (MCA) and Civil Aviation Administration (CCAA), as well as the recognition and encouragement for the efforts and dedication to all of the staffs of CCAA. In order to implement the national "The 14th Five-Year Plan" and promote the green development in the aviation industry, CCAA has launched the "Double Carbon Airport" evaluation project since March 2022; to actively promote the continuous improvement of the aviation industry';s carbon emission management capability. The "Double Carbon Airport" evaluation project is "The Chinese solution" to evaluate the carbon emission management capability of the civil aviation airport industry. CCAA will continue to devote itself to this project and bring the exemplary leading role of advanced airport into full play; and guide the transformation and upgrading the green development of the civil aviation airport industry.

Chairman Deng Jun expressed his gratitude for the support given by CCAA to the member airports, and congratulated CCAA for being awarded the "China National 5A Social Organization" again. He said that Macau International Airport Company Limited (CAM) has made an outstanding contributions in helping to control the infections of Macau during the worst period of the global epidemic by standing firm and defense the door in the last three years. From 22nd to 29th January 2023 (the 1st to 8th day of the Lunar New Year), the number of passengers has reached 76,000 in Macau International Airport at the first Lunar New Year after the end of epidemic, an increase of 80% compared to the same period last year; and more than 620 flights were operated, marked an increase of 47%. For the "Double Carbon Airport" evaluation project of CCAA, Macau International Airport will strongly support and cooperate with the project for helping to achieve the "Double Carbon" goal.

Other delegates attended the visit included: CCAA - Mr. Su JiCheng, Deputy Secretary General, Mr. Song Qinghua, Assistant of the Chairman and Ms. Qiao Nan, Director of Member Affairs; CAM - Ms. Vicki Mou, Director of Corporate Communication and Policy Research Office and Ms. Song Yue, Secretary of Beijing Representative Office.

Afterwards, Chairman Deng Jun has visited Mr. Wang Changyi, Chairman of the Capital Airports Holding Limited (CAH) and introduced the passenger volume of Macau International Airport (MIA) has recovered and increased steadily after the epidemic, and all sectors of the industry are adjusting to the demand changes after the recovery. At the end of last year, the State Council officially approved the Macau SAR Government about the expansion and reclamation of the Macau International Airport (MIA), for the long term support from the Central Government and the Macau SAR Government to the sustainable development of MIA, we will continue to play the role of the airport in the Bay area endowed by the country, to enhance the comprehensive competitiveness of MIA and cooperate with the integration into the overall development of the country. Chairman Deng expressed gratitude to CAH for its long term support to MIA. The two companies, both members of the East Asia Airport Alliance (EAAA), have supported each other for 20 years and witnessed each other’s growth on different international platforms. It is also believed that the two companies can exchange and cooperate in technology to promote the integration and development of the industry; at the same time, Chairman Wang is welcomed to visit MIA to learn about the actual operation status.

Chairman Wang Changyi said that CAH manages more than 50 airports, accounting for one-fifth of the country’s total. It has rich technical experience, he believes that although MIA is small, but it is multi-functional. He believes that the civil aviation units in the Mainland and Macau can establish a learning exchange mechanism, and contribute to the national civil aviation industry together.

Other participant in the meeting included: Ms. Vicki Mou, Director of Corporate Communication and Policy Research Office.

During the visit, CAM also arranged to meet with other leaders who have contributed to the development of Macau';s civil aviation industry for more than 20 years. Macau International Airport (MIA) will continue being focused on Macau, support by the motherland and facing to the world. MIA will also highly complement to the tourism and civil aviation development by the Macau SAR government, and fulfill the functions and advantages of the airport.
