  • 2023-07-04

Citilink will return to Perth with their Bali service and for the first time will also introduce a service to Jakarta. The airline’s announcement provides more options for Western Australian’s travelling to Indonesia.

Perth Airport Acting Chief Executive Officer Kate Holsgrove said the Citilink Perth-Bali and Perth–Jakarta services bring more competition and more choice for travellers. “It’s great that Citilink is returning, especially given that these services will bring almost 190,000 additional seats to the market, which is fantastic news for those travelling for leisure, business or education.

“Indonesia is our nearest neighbour and one of the most popular tourism destinations for Western Australians.

“And as a significant trading partner with a population of 273 million, these new services to Indonesia only brings further business and trade opportunities,” said Ms Holsgrove.

Citilink Indonesia CEO Dewa Rai has stated, "These new International routes are quite promising considering that tourists from Australia are one of the highest number of tourists visiting Indonesia in 2022."

According to the Center for Data and Information Systems of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy / The Tourism and Creative Economy Agency of the Republic of Indonesia, Australia is ranked fourth in terms of the highest number of foreign tourists visiting Indonesia in 2022. Australia is also the country with the highest growth in the number of foreign tourists visiting Indonesia in 2022 compared to 2021.

Dewa added that with the recently received global award from Skytrax, Citilink is highly optimistic that this award gives us an advantage of added value in attracting the public's interest. This can be applied for Indonesians and foreign tourists alike, to visit Jakarta, Denpasar and Perth respectively.

"The opening of these new international routes is expected to improve bilateral relations between the two countries so that they can increase the potential for cooperation in various sectors such as culture, economy, politics, social and so many more," concluded Dewa.

Citilink is always committed to ensuring that all flights run optimally by prioritizing aspects of security, safety and comfort for all customers. The Citilink daily Perth – Bali service will commence on 19 July on an A320, arriving into Perth at 4.50am and departing at 7.30am.
