Coordinator of GASAP Ms. Sonia Chan and the Delegation Visited MIA to Inspect the Operation of Infrastructure Projects

Coordinator of the Office for Planning of the Supervision of Public Assets of the Macao Special Administrative Region (GASAP) Ms. Sonia Chan and her delegation visited Macau International Airport on 7th February 2023 to inspect the recent completed infrastructure projects and the operational condition, and learned about the management and rational use of related public assets. Chairman of the Executive Committee of Macau International Airport Company Limited (CAM) Dr. Deng Jun and three Executive Directors include: Mr. Kan Cheok Kuan, Mr. Lei Si Tai and Mr. Leung Henry Yee Hang and directors of relevant departments accompanied with and gave detailed explanations in the inspection.

CAM Executive Director Mr. Lei Si Tai, explained on the spot that the State Council has officially approved plan for the expansion and land reclamation of Macau International Airport. Director of Airport Operations Department of CAM Mr. Gary Geng, introduced that in response to the latest security and operational requirements, the Baggage Handling System (BHS) was upgraded with seamless Hold Baggage Screen (HBS) process while adopting the RFID function for tracking the checked baggage and set up an additional oversized baggage handling area to meet passengers’ needs, so as to enhance the passengers experience.

Upon the completion of the South Extension project of the Passenger Terminal Building, it has been putting into service to cope with the epidemic prevention work. At present, boarding gate has been opened for use to cater for operational needs and service providers are gradually being introduced through tendering to provide passengers with more diversified services. Head of Air Traffic Control Service (ATC) of AOD Mr. Danny Lam, introduced the general information of air traffic management in Macau and explained the operation concept and complexity of air traffic condition flying over Macau. Advisor to Head of Air Traffic Service (ATS) Division of AOD Ms. Pricilla Cheong, introduced the operating system on the control tower.
