Delhi International Airport’s Talent wins ACI Asia-Pacific’s Young Executive Award 2022

ACI Asia-Pacific has announced the winner of the association’s signature Human Resources programme, the Young Executive Award 2022. Mr. Rekibuddin Ahmed, Manager – Environment, of Delhi International Airport Limited, India was selected the winner. The panel of judges also awarded Honourable Mention to Ms. Emily Chan, Assistant Manager – Standards & Service Delivery, of Airport Authority Hong Kong.


Established since 2009, the Young Executive Award programme continues to encourage the promulgation of innovative ideas and best practices from young professionals among the Asia-Pacific and Middle East airport community. This year, papers addressed the theme “Adapting Airports to a Changing Climate in the Region”. Mr. Ahmed demonstrated exceptional research, analysis and appropriate interventions in his submission, contributing to the aviation sector in becoming a more sustainable and resilient mode of transportation.

 

“Climate change is a short-term threat to humanity, and the airport community must adapt to it if it wants to be able to continue to play a major role in the connectivity between people and territories. Beyond the threats to our infrastructures, the analysis of the impacts on travel and local and international mobility have also been analyzed in detail.  A number of solutions, both technical and organizational, have been proposed, as well as innovative strategies for risk mitigation and sustainable adaptation. We are extremely proud to have awarded the Young Executive Award to Mr. Rekibuddin Ahmed and an Honourable Mention to Ms. Emily Chan, recognizing their outstanding achievements,” said Mr. Jean-Michel Ratron, Director General of Aéroport de Tahiti, French Polynesia, who served as Chair of the Panel of Judges for the programme. Mr. Ratron also serves as a Director on the ACI Asia-Pacific Regional Board.

 

Mr. Ahmed will be awarded a cash prize and scholarship to the ACI World Global Training Airport Operations Diploma Programme. Delhi International Airport will also receive an additional scholarship to any ACI Global Training Leadership and Management Professional Certificate course, in support of its learning and development endeavors. 

 

“As the aviation industry continues to evolve in the post-COVID era, development of the next generation of airport professionals is also crucial to the sustainability of the industry. To this end, ACI Asia-Pacific is pleased be play its part in fostering the industry’s young talents through the Young Executive Award programme,” said ACI Asia-Pacific Director General Stefano Baronci.

 

The papers of the winner and Honourable Mention will be posted on the ACI Asia-Pacific website to encourage the promulgation of innovative ideas and best practices among the Asia-Pacific and Middle East airport community.
