Hactl welcomes Policy Address 2023 initiatives for enhancing Hong Kong’s competitiveness in air cargo industry

  • 2023-10-25

Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited (Hactl) said it welcomes the government initiatives outlined in the Chief Executive’s Policy Address 2023 to formulate strategies and action measures that drive smart development, modernisation, green and sustainability, internationalisation and facilitation in logistics development; as well as to continue leveraging the competitive advantage of intermodal freight transport through stronger collaboration with Mainland China, especially the Greater Bay Area. Such initiatives are expected to create optimised conditions for further enhancing the competitiveness of Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) and the city’s air cargo industry.

Hactl Chief Executive Wilson Kwong said, “HKIA continued to top the global rankings in cargo throughput in 2022. As the largest independent air cargo handler at HKIA, Hactl will continue to align with the government’s policies and capitalise on the opportunities arising from the permanent logistics park that will be completed by the end of 2025. We will also continue to promote the long-term, high-quality and sustainable development of Hong Kong’s air cargo industry with a view to further reinforcing Hong Kong’s position as an international air cargo hub.

“Hactl’s existing business strategy is complementary with government policy,” Wilson continued. “We have been actively pursuing the deployment of artificial intelligence and robotics in our operations and facilities to help establish a SMART air cargo terminal and make our operations even more efficient. We have also introduced numerous environmental and staff well-being initiatives to build a more sustainable working environment.”
