  • 2023-08-04

Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) and the Labour Department jointly kick-started the Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) Career Expo 2023 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre today. More than 50 airport companies will recruit for over 6,500 vacancies at the three-day event.

Fred Lam, Chief Executive Officer of AAHK; Lam Sai-hung, Secretary for Transport and Logistics; and Chris Sun, Secretary for Labour and Welfare, officiated at the opening ceremony of the event.

Fred Lam said at the event, “Passenger traffic at HKIA has recovered to 60% of the pre-pandemic level and continues to grow, creating many job opportunities. In addition, an array of projects under the Airport City strategy are forging ahead, which will transform the airport into a landmark attracting visitors from Hong Kong, the Greater Bay Area and around the world. As a quality workforce is the key to realising our vision, we will continue to create high-value career opportunities in order to attract more talent to join us at HKIA.”

Lam Sai-hung said, “The Three-runway System will be completed by end of next year, while various projects under the ‘Airport City’ vision will also be progressively completed. The capacity and functionality of HKIA will be significantly enhanced, bringing unprecedented opportunities to the aviation industry in Hong Kong.”

Chris Sun remarked, “2023 marks the 25th anniversary of HKIA, a world-class airport that has made significant contribution to the economy and tourism of Hong Kong and the Asia Pacific region. More than 50 organisations participated in this year's Career Expo, offering thousands of vacancies in the aviation industry and airport operations for people with different qualifications and interests.”

The job opportunities offered at the Expo cover a wide range of roles, including inflight services, aircraft maintenance, airfreight, aviation security, baggage handling, technical services, retail, catering and more.

A total of 18 sessions of career talk will be hosted throughout the event by different airport companies, providing information on job opportunities and insight on career planning. Participating companies may also conduct on-site job interviews at the Expo.

The Career Expo is one of the programmes commemorating the 25th anniversary of HKIA, with an exhibition featuring the airport’s development journey, the Airport City blueprint, as well as terminal facility enhancements and new passenger services.
