Inauguration of the New Water Front Building at Velana International Airport

The new water front building opens along with franchised F&B outlets at Velana International Airport (VIA). Minister of Economic Development Mr. Mohamed Saeed inaugurated the building at a special ceremony held today afternoon.


The water front building located at the west harbor lagoon area of VIA comes with 400 capacity franchised outlets at the 1st floor of the building. HMSHost Maldives will operate and manage world-renowned brands such as Pizza Hut, KFC, Costa Coffees and Harvest Market at the outlets.


General Manager of HMSHost Maldives Mr. Durgadutt Shetty said that his company has provided the best of the franchised outlets in the world and it is a privilege to work at VIA.


MD of Maldives Airports Company Ltd (MACL) Mr. Adil Moosa said that these are the greatest days of VIA as just yesterday the first A380 landed at the new Code F runway and today is just a another bright day with the opening of the new water front building along with world class F&B outlets. He hopes that this new establishment will benefit airport users and thanked the President of the Republic of Maldives Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom for his visionary leadership.


Minister of Economic Development Mr. Mohamed Saeed said that he is proud of his government’s achievements to make Maldives a better place and continued with the mega projects planned by the
government. He thanked the President of the Republic of the Maldives Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom for the development he has initiated for the Maldives to become a world economic strength. The ceremony was attended by the senior management of MACL and airport stakeholders.
