Inviting consultants to submit proposals for Study on Climate Adaptation Approach

  • 2024-10-14

ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East invites consultants to submit proposals for the “Study on Climate Adaptation Approach for APAC & MID Airports” (The Study). This Study aims to strengthen airport resilience in alignment with global climate adaptation goals for airports in Asia Pacific and Middle East.

Building and maintaining resilient infrastructure is becoming crucial alongside efforts to decarbonize assets. Despite global net-zero commitments, intensifying weather patterns and extreme events continue to affect airports worldwide, highlighting the urgent need for a resilient approach for airports.

At COP28, parties agreed on targets for the Global Goal on Adaptation and its framework, establishing global objectives to guide countries in developing and implementing adaptation plans. Airports are encouraged to align with this global imperative.

ACI APAC & MID has already published a “Policy Brief: Airports' Resilience and Adaptation to Changing Climate,” which provided case studies and practical guidance for airports. Additionally, the “Tendering Guides for Climate Resilience Planning” enhanced the understanding of climate risk assessments in the region.

To address this, ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East seeks to commission a competent consultant to provide a comprehensive plan for developing a step-by-step approach to enhance airport resilience, including creating climate risk assessment tools, piloting these tools, engaging stakeholders, and developing dashboards to monitor and guide ongoing adaptation efforts.

The scope of the Study shall include, but is not limited to, the following major components:

  • Phase One: Development of Overarching Process, Climate Risk Assessment Toolkits and Guidance Documents
    - Task 1. Comprehensive Research and Stakeholders Dialogue
    - Task 2. Outline the Key Steps, Toolkits and Supporting Guidance Document
  •  Phase Two: Implementation of Toolkits and Guidance Document
    -    2a.  Airport Climate Risk Maturity Check Tool
    -    2b. Airport Climate Risk Assessment Tool
  • Phase Three: Development of Monitoring Dashboards and Reporting
    -    Task 1. Implement the Airport Climate Risk Maturity Check Tool (Phase 2a)
    -    Task 2. Implement the Airport Climate Risk Assessment Tool (Phase 2b)

Interested parties who wish to receive a copy of the RFP document for the above shall forward their company name, together with the name, position, telephone number and email address of their contact person by email to:

>> Mr. Ken LAU, Head, Sustainability, ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East
>> Mr. Gidae SHIN, Special Project Officer, ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East

All proposals shall be submitted by email no later than 17:00 (GMT+8) on 20 November 2024

All proposals must include proposed fees quoted in US Dollars and be inclusive of all fees, charges, and taxes.
