KIX to Carry Out Comprehensive Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting Drill

Kansai Airports will conduct a comprehensive aircraft rescue and firefighting drill at Kansai International Airport (KIX) on October 12, a comprehensive aircraft rescue and firefighting drill conducted annually based on the Kansai International Airport Emergency Plan.
This drill aims to conduct prompt and appropriate firefighting, rescue and disaster medical activities in close coordination and cooperation with related organizations and to verify the Kansai International Airport Emergency Plan in case an aircraft accident occurs at or near KIX.
Kansai Airports Group will continue to strive to ensure a safe and secure airport environment for all passengers by carrying out various emergency exercises.

Scale: 700 people, 39 vehicles, 1 aircraft (Cooperation: Peach Aviation Limited), and 3 helicopters (Cooperation: Japan Ground Self-Defense Force 3rd Division, Osaka Prefectural Doctor Helicopter, Osaka City Fire Department)
Scenario:
- After landing, the second engine of an A320 aircraft caught fire on the runway, resulting in numerous injuries to the crew and passengers.
- The aircraft involved in the accident is an international flight.
