  • 2022-09-29

The “2022 Asian Freight, Logistics & Supply Chain Awards (AFLAS)” organized by Asia Cargo News was held in Hong Kong on September. Macau International Airport (MIA) was elected as the winner of the “Best Airport - Asia” award (under 1m tones) for 5 consecutive years since 2018.

As the most authoritative annual awards ceremony in Asian transportation industry and supply chain industry, the prize winners are nominated and voted by more than 15,000 readers and e-news subscribers among other service users to recognize outstanding performance in leadership, service quality, innovation, customer relations and reliability. This award affirmed the service quality and development potential of air transport services at Macau International Airport.

Around 75% of the cargo transported at MIA in 2019 was through the belly of passenger flights which were significantly reduced due to the impact of the epidemic. MIA responded proactively to this by introducing freighter services. In 2021, total cargo volume in MIA reached 48,000 tons, of which 79% was transported by freighters. Aircraft such as B737, B767, A330, B777 and B747 are providing freighter service in MIA. The route network crossed Asia, Europe, Africa, North America and South America.

Macau International Airport will continue to work hard with the core value of “Safety, Efficiency and Effectiveness” in order to provide quality cargo services and contribute to the promotion of the economy of the Greater Bay Area and the diversified development of Macau economy.
