Macau International Airport (MIA) had a bustling Chinese New Year (CNY) in 2024. During the holidays from 10th to 14th February 2024, MIA welcomed over 110,000 passengers and handled more than 800 flight movements, both figures recorded a two-fold increase compared with same period during the Lunar New Year of last year (2023). The passenger volume on the fifth day of the Lunar New Year (14th February 2024) exceeded 25,000 passengers, setting a new high for single-day passenger numbers since 2023. In addition, comparing with same period in 2019 overall, passengers volume and aircraft movements have recovered by approximately 76% and 73% respectively. During the festive holidays, all staffs of MIA diligently attended to their positions and worked closely with different units to ensure smooth operation of the airport.
To enrich the airport experience with seasonal atmosphere, MIA embellished the passenger terminal building with festive CNY decorations and also provided a series of CNY themed activities, including the offer of parking discount during CNY, and God of Wealth distributed good fortune bags and sent blessings to the passengers for the year ahead, all of which contributed to a joyous festive atmosphere at the MIA.
