Minimal Impact to the Guam International Airport – 24/7 Operations Never Ceased

Ensuring safe and secure travel remained the priority for the A.B. Won Pat International Airport Authority, Guam (GIAA) throughout the Condition of Readiness (COR) stages of the passing of Typhoon Bolaven.
“As an essential facility for the people of Guam, the GIAA remained open and operating to support all air carrier operations for inbound and outbound flights throughout the storm,” stated John M. Quinata, Executive Manager of the GIAA. “And the airport stood ready whether or not airlines determined flight activity based on actual weather conditions.”
Several airlines cancelled a total of nine (9) inbound flights as a result of the storm. “As is customary, our team of GIAA staff and other airport service providers stayed open to service passengers that remained in the terminal for their safety.”
Quinata concluded, “We have a great team of dedicated professionals that are committed to the GIAA’s mission and we thank our airline partners, passenger service providers, and all airport staff and stakeholders for working throughout the storm.”
