Over 3000 Runners participate in the Second Edition of the ‘Hyderabad Airport Run’

With the theme of ‘Run Eat Play Repeat’, the second edition of ‘Hyderabad Airport Run’ organized by GMR led Hyderabad International Airport kicked off with a bang. The Airport run, which returned after almost two years was a smashing hit with around three thousand runners hitting the tracks in the 5k and 10k run.
 
The heartthrob of the Telugu film industry, movie star Naga Chaitanya Akkineni, flagged off the run with thundering applause from the audience. This year, the event had five categories viz. – 18 to 40 yrs (Men & Women), 40 yrs and above (Men & Women), and International runners. Mr. Pradeep Panicker, CEO-GHIAL, felicitated the winners with medals and prizes. The first prize winner took home a medal, along with a prize amount of ₹40,000/-. The first and second runners- up were given a prize amount of ₹ 20,000/-  and ₹10,000/- respectively.

Mr. Pradeep Panicker said, “The undeniable vigor, response, and encouragement from the first airport run has inspired us in building an annual stage for runners and sports enthusiasts in the city. The platform not only signifies all aspects of health but also celebrates the feeling of oneness. After two years of the pandemic, the airport run is back with more gusto and the response has been phenomenal. We are thankful to all the participants, our sponsors, our partners and the dedicated organizers who made this event a grand success.”
 
The Airport Run was followed by a fun- filled evening with the Threeory band and singers Ram Miriyala and Bhargavi Pillai enthralling the audience with their scintillating music. A host of entertaining activities were laid out at the venue, that included zumba dance, flea market, play zone for children, food stalls and other amusement activities for the participants, airport community and their families. The picturesque landscape of Hyderabad Airport was a perfect location and made for an entertaining evening.  
 
In February 2020, the maiden Hyderabad Airport Run was a huge success with over two thousand runners hailing from different parts of Hyderabad and across India including a few foreign nationals, making it the first Airport Run in the country.
