It’s a ‘new brand day’ for Sunshine Coast Airport as it celebrates the launch of a new airport brand and the arrival into the Sunshine Coast of Bonza’s first branded aircraft - ready to paint the Australian skies purple.

Speaking this morning, Sunshine Coast Airport CEO Andrew Brodie said, “It’s a momentous day for Sunshine Coast Airport with the unveiling of a new airport brand and the arrival of Bonza’s first branded aircraft flight AB001 into the Sunshine Coast”.

“Our new logo and brand identity is not just about changing the way we look – it’s about reflecting on who we are and the journey we are about to embark on.

“We will continue to make thoughtful choices that shape the future of our wider region – knowing the actions we take and the experiences we create, bring us closer to becoming the natural choice for the Sunshine Coast and beyond.

“We proudly sit at the heart of one of the most naturally engaging places in the world and our new brand is about celebrating this.

“Our airport embraces its role as an economic enabler, and we relish our place at the heart of a thriving region,” added Andrew Brodie.

As a gateway airport for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Sunshine Coast Airport has plans to invest up to $500 million in infrastructure to boost the regional economy, create jobs and leave a legacy for generations to come.

To support the current and projected growth of both domestic and international passengers which is expected to see more than three million passengers welcomed through its doors in 2040, the airport is planning a major terminal redevelopment, an expansion of the Aerospace Precinct and the development of the Southern Gateway Precinct.

Sunshine Coast Airport is also the first and only carbon neutral airport in Australia and are committed to making sure that what makes Sunshine Coast special today, is there for tomorrow.

Andrew Brodie said, “Our focus for the future is about teaming up with likeminded people and business to achieve shared outcomes, and our partnership with Bonza is testament to this.

“We are very proud to be named as the home base for Bonza which will benefit the region, the state and communities across Australia by connecting more people to more places, bringing them closer to the moments that matter most,” added Andrew Brodie”.

"We are thrilled to welcome the arrival of our first aircraft today together with Sunshine Coast Airport - Bonza's home base," said Tim Jordan, CEO of Bonza.

"Together with Sunshine Coast Airport, Bonza is getting ready to paint Australian skies purple offering local Sunny Coast residents the opportunity to explore an initial 13 destinations with low-cost flights. In addition, our partnership with the airport will bring more inbound visitors to the region from a range of new markets with 12 of the 13 Bonza routes to the Sunshine Coast currently not serviced by any other airline".

Melanie Anderson, Tourism Noosa CEO said “How exciting to have Australia’s newest low-cost carrier based just down the road, and nearing closer to connecting more people from across Australia to Noosa”.

Visit Sunshine Coast CEO Matt Stoeckel welcomed the arrival of Bonza’s first aircraft and the establishment of the company’s headquarters on the Sunshine Coast.

“This is an important and exciting milestone for Sunshine Coast tourism,” Mr Stoeckel said.

“The Sunshine Coast has always been a popular destination for regional Australia, and the expansion of direct air services to so many key regional centres will be tremendous for growing our tourism economy.”

The arrival of Bonza will spearhead the region’s recovery with 17 destinations connected to the Sunshine Coast when Bonza takes flight, up from three pre-COVID, boosting the airport from 10th to the 2nd most domestically connected airport in Queensland.

Andrew Brodie added “It is estimated Bonza’s presence here on the Sunshine Coast will generate more than $86 million in visitor expenditure in the region in the first 12 months of flights being operational, and bring an additional 386,000 seats directly into the Sunshine Coast”.
