Airport Authority Hong Kong (AA) and its main reclamation contractor for the Three-runway System (3RS) project of Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) today signed a tripartite framework agreement with a company directly under the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Government regarding sand supply for the 3RS project. Under the agreement, earmarked sand sources that have successfully gone through auction procedures in Guangxi will provide dedicated supply for 3RS reclamation works. The delivery of sand from Guangxi to Hong Kong is expected to start from mid-2019.

The framework agreement was signed in Hong Kong under the witness of Lu Xinshe, Secretary of the CPC Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Regional Committee and Fred Lam, Chief Executive Officer of the AA. Representatives of the AA, the main reclamation contractor, Zhen Hua Engineering Company Limited, China Communications Construction Company Limited and CCCC Dredging (Group) Company Limited Joint Venture, and Guangxi Beibu Gulf International Port Group Company Limited signed on the tripartite agreement respectively. The agreement provides for a sustained and stable supply of sand from earmarked sources in Guangxi, in accordance with the 3RS project’s required standard.

Meanwhile, the AA has also signed a framework collaboration agreement with the Guangxi Airport Group Company Limited. Both sides agreed to start multi-level cooperation on enhancing the management of construction and operation as well as the development of aviation logistics chain of the Guangxi Airport Group, with reference to the experience of HKIA. According to the agreement, the AA will provide consultancy service and training to the Guangxi Airport Group on airport operation management and infrastructure construction. The two sides will also establish a mechanism on long-term collaboration and exchange.

In addition, on May 15 the AA and the Nanning Municipal People's Government signed a cooperation agreement to establish long term partnership. According to the agreement, the AA will provide consultancy service and training on airport development and management, with a view to facilitating the enhancements of the Nanning Wuxu International Airport and cooperation on the development of the Nanning Airport Economic Demonstration Zone.
