ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East today honored three airports for their outstanding commitment to aerodrome safety with the presentation of its inaugural Safety Recognition Awards 2025.
A total of 64 airports in Asia-Pacific and Middle East have collectively contributed towards 162,623 tonnes of carbon reduction (Scope 1 & 2), according to the ACI Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) Annual Report 2021-2022 . This is equivalent to the CO2 emitted during the production of close to 24 million cotton t-shirts.

The global aviation industry is on track for a strong recovery this year, Bahrain Airport Company (BAC), Airports Council International (ACI) World, and ACI Asia-Pacific announced during a joint press conference ahead of the ACI World Governing Board, World Audit Committee, and World Executive Committee meetings. ACI Asia-Pacific has added two new handbooks to its library of safety guidelines. The first is aimed at helping its members to set up procedures to determine when to scale down or shut down aerodrome operations during a thunderstorm and to resume operations afterwards. The second provides a methodology to estimate manning requirements for aerodrome operations. Both are available for free to ACI Asia-Pacific members.
